a new car
to paint the inside of my house
a new sofa
the carpets cleaned
the outside pressure cleaned
new pajamas
a new TV
more money in the bank
a massage
a new house
Do I need it, or do I want it? The truth is we all need things but I think sometimes we want them more. Why can't we be happy with what we have? If it's not broke, don't fix it. Right? As I get older, I want less. A lot less. Things I thought were important when I was younger I could care less about now.
Family, health, just plain enjoying life have taken the place of material things that will be here long after I've gone. Now that's something I need and want.

I tell my daughter's all the time that things are not what is important, people are.
Many are too consumed with material things that we don't realize what's really important.
Ditto, Mint. When my daughter and I are shopping and she says she wants something I always say, do you want it or do you need it? LOL
Especially during the holidays, Jane. Christmas has become so commercialized that I don't even look forward to it anymore. I do however, love Thanksgiving!
I'm right there with you Debbie. Except for my books, of course;) ~Nancy
Hey Nancy, we all have guilty pleasures!
I am very blessed to have the ability to do a lot with just a little. I make the most of everything, and I don't feel deprived. If everything I own was stripped away, I would still have the things that no one can take away. I have been loved by some very special people, and my wonderful pets, and I have the heart to care about more than just myself. All of that and a good cup of coffee goes a long way.
Amen, Virginia! You are blessed. It took me a long time to realize that most of the free things in life mean the most to me.
