Sofa's Are Great For Napping...

But NOT sleeping. That comment might not make sense, but I recently realized the difference. I've fallen asleep on my sofa many times. It's soft and comfortable. Great for taking those half hour to one hour naps in the afternoons. I wake feeling refreshed and ready to go.

The other night I gave up my bed to my sister, who'd driven in from North Carolina. Dad was in the guest room. I thought, no problem, I'd sleep on the sofa. After all, it's comfortable and I don't have any problem taking naps on it. That's when I found out sofas are okay for napping but not for sleeping.

I tossed and turned and couldn't fall to sleep to save my life. I couldn't understand it. What's the difference between taking a nap and spending the night on it? I managed to get to sleep after a while, kind of, for a few short hours. Only to wake exhausted in the morning.

Thank goodness it was only for one night.

I just found your site from Authorisland. Sorry, but when I was young we had uncles, aunts, cousins, etc. that would visit and sleep over. The sofa makes a much better bed than the floor!

Hi Karin, welcome from authorisland! Great site, isn't it?

Well, looking at it from that point of view I guess you're right. The sofa is always better than the hard floor. I think I'm going to invest in an airbed though:)
