Morning folks. It's the last Monday of January and I'm excited because in just a few short days my first torrid release, "IT'S ALL IN THE JEANS" will be out with Whiskey Creek Press Torrid. It's published under Tory Richards. Visit her website if you'd like a chance to win an autographed copy. I'm giving more than one away on day of release. All you have to do is sign my guest book on the contact me page. http://www.toryrichards.com/
In spite of it being a torrid, it has a cute storyline which takes place in sunny Florida in a retirement community. It's loaded with humor and, ah, plenty of excitement. Okay...hot steamy sex for those of you who need to see the words! I've included a blurb below.
Blurb-
Logan Knight is staying with his grandfather while recuperating from an accident that killed his two best friends. He needs time to heal his body and his heart from the tragedy. Libby Turner is on a hell bent mission to keep her grandmother out of an assisted living facility, even if it means masquerading as a seventy-year-old woman.
From the moment the two meet sparks fly, and they can't keep their hands off each other. The only problem is, neither is looking for a relationship, so they come up with an outrageous solution. Can they stick to their plan of keeping their relationship strictly sexual, or do they give in to the overwhelming love that threatens to claim their hearts?

Book Signing Event for Florida Authors
I belong to a group of Florida authors who go on book signings together, usually coordinated by Tiva Wallon. I just joined and haven't been on one yet but I will! Anyway, they have a big event planned and Tiva said it was okay to post in case any other authors want to get in on it. Please read her email below. You would contact Tiva. I won't be able to make this one:(
Hi there! Today I spoke to the manager at the USA Flea Market. She was very excited about our event, very excited. She suggested the 2nd Saturday and or Sunday of the month as they have car shows and it's the busiest time of the month. This is what she is offering us. The tables are 4 x 8 and run $10.00 per table. I figure 2 to 3 authors per table, unless you want a table all to yourself. (Each of us will split the cost) You'll have to let me know. The price is for each day, each table. The spot is located on their Main Street, the busiest spot in the place. Usually they charge a bundle to advertise things on the huge electronic sign, ($100.00 per day) but she said she wouldn't charge us for this. Pretty cool, huh? And the thing is huge! I would say about as big as the side of a barn. All we have to bring is our books, chairs and a table cloth. They open at 9AM and close at 4PM both days so you can choose what time you want to be there.
So all I need from you is a yes or a no if you want to attend and which day or both days. You can sell your books, CD's what ever. All the sales are yours to keep. (You'll need to bring cash to make change or you can even accept a check from a customer) You just have to pay your share of the table fee. Everyone is invited to attend, no matter what genre you write in everyone is welcome. If you know of another author who would like to join us, please give them my email and have them contact me. The news media will be alerted as well. I can't promise they will come see us and do a story but they might.
So if you're interested in joining us for this event, please email me back as soon as you can. Once I know who's coming, I can make up a flier which will be placed all over the Flea Market a week prior to the event. The day of the event, when you arrive I will collect your share of the table fee and give it to the manager. Or she might prefer to meet us there and collect from each of us as we arrive. I'll have to get that information from her.
This is going to be awesome! Let me know soon!
Hugs

WOMEN'S ASS SIZE STUDY
There is a new study just released by the American Psychiatric Association about women and how they feel about their asses. The results are pretty shocking:
1. Only 5% of women surveyed feel their ass is too big.
2. 10% of women surveyed feel their ass is too small.
3. The remaining 85% say they don't care; they love him; he's a good man and they would have married him anyway.
Gotta love it! A friend of mine sent this to me.

An Eye Opening Experience
I thought becoming a published author that all I'd have to do was sit back and reap the rewards of my dreams coming true. I would just continue writing my books and find a publisher. That's all there was to it, right? How naive I was!
Since getting my first novel published in 2005 I've acquired two websites, two blogs, joined myspace, bebo, 13 yahoo groups and something else I can't remember the name of. I've spent hundreds of dollars on promotion from expensive magazine ads & contest prizes to designing my own post cards, magnets, labels and book marks. Not to mention the postage spent on mailing those promotional items out to various organizations. Oh yeah, and let's not forget the cost of materials and ink for printing out those great promotional items.
I've also acquired a pen name. A necessity when you work for a family oriented company and you get your first erotic novel published. I didn't want to put myself in the position where I have to explain how a nice, quiet grandmother like me can write such, ah, explicit books.
How does one keep up with it all AND work a full time job to boot? And this year I'm hoping to do a couple book signings...my first. Am I biting off more than I can chew? There's days when half of me just wants to focus on writing, something I love to do, submit when I'm done and then move on to the next book and not worry about anything else. But the other half of me realizes the importance of being out there, promoting and building a following for people who like my books. It's not that I don't want to do it, it's just there's not enough time in the day to do everything.
How naive I was in the beginning but how much I've learned! And I can't forget about all the author friends I've become acquainted with and their generous advice and assistance when I needed it. And the wonderful readers I've come to know.
Dues have to be paid and success doesn't happen over night. I only hope I'm still young enough to get it all accomplished by the time I retire from my real job. It would be nice having a hobby that pays off by that time:)

WHY DO WOMEN DO IT?
I'm watching Cristina's Court on TV right now, and there's this woman who's suing a guy for a loan he didn't pay back. Okay, that's not the issue. Here she is telling the judge that before she loaned him the money she bought him a $200 pair of roller blades, a $500 dollar mountain bike, paid for gas for his car many times so he could get to work. She was doing this on the hope that he would eventually become more than a friend. She wanted him for a boyfriend. HE made her keep their affair a secret, while taking all those things from her.
His attitude through the whole episode stunk! And he was disrespectful. Yet I wanted to reach through the tube and shake some sense into this girl for getting into this situation. Talk about love being blind!
Why do some women feel they have to buy love? Notice I said some. I don't want to be attacked because of my comment. I remember when I was a kid in school, I'm talking grade school here, where I gave a boy some pencils once because I wanted him to like me. But I was a kid for goodness sake. Help me understand!

SEX?
No.
I recall the very first wallet I received, I was about thirteen. There was a card in it that you were supposed to fill out with your personal information. I laugh as I write this. When I came to the word sex, I just wrote no on the line next to it. After all, I was only thirteen and I wasn't having sex yet. I was very naive at that time, we're talking 40 something years ago when girls didn't grow up as fast as they do now.
Later I came to realize they really wanted to know what sex I was.

Big Breakfast?
Okay, I have to share what I saw this morning when hubby and I went to breakfast. We favor this little non-chain restaurant downtown because they're cheap and the food is actually good. It's always jam packed and sometimes you have to wait, but not long. There's nothing fancy about it but they do a heck of a business.
Well, we were sitting there waiting for our breakfast. We always order the same thing, a half order of biscuits and sausage gravy and a side of potatoes. The tables and booths are pretty close and I couldn't help notice the people sitting at the booth beside our table. They got their food about the same time ours arrived.
Ever tried enjoying a hearty plate of biscuits and gravy with a side of potatoes when the woman next to you is struggling to get down a single pancake thin enough to see through? Without syrup! Was she crazy? Why did she even bother ordering breakfast? I felt so self-conscious I could barely finish my breakfast off. I think I actually left a fork or two on my plate so she could see I wasn't a pig:)
