Sunday Stories

I think my computers caught what I had last week. My desk top took almost an hour to load so I could sign on and blog this evening. The reason I'm not on my lap top is because the wireless connection is so low it won't connect to the Internet. Don't know what's up with that but if it continues much longer I'm going to take it in. I bought a wireless router and for the money it cost I don't expect to be inconvenienced with this type of problem! Would you?

I thought I'd do a little trivia this evening. I'm in the mood to give something away:) The first person who gets all five answers right will win a a coffee mug filled with tea bags and hot cocoa! It won't be long when the weather will be changing for winter and you'll get the hankering for something warm in your tummy.

You might have to do a little digging but the answers are either on my blog or website. Deadline is the last day of the month.

What year was I born in?
Where's my favorite weekend getaway?
What are my 2 cat's names?
What's my granddaughter's name?
What convention do I plan to attend in April 2009?

Hi Debbie, I just got home from my grandsons 10th day, so sent my answer in. Just way to get to know you better. :)

Debbie...I'm in although obviously Dina beat me to it. I should probably just kill her now:)

I must be having a senior moment because if all of Dina's answers are right, then she's won and the rest of us can suck air until the end of the month *grin*.

As to your question about being inconvenienced with your wireless router the answer is not only No! but Hell no!

P.S. Dina ~ just kidding, of course:) *Hugs* Nancy:)

Nancy, you made me laugh and with the day I've had, THANKS. :)

I have not heard from Debbie yet though, so maybe someone beat me to it.

I have had low internet service and I had calbe, so that's bad, I think!

Got it, Dina:) By 10th day you mean 10th birthday?

Debbie Wallace said...

I don't have any idea what's wrong with my connection but the last two days have been good. It's usually when I need my puter the most that the connection keeps getting disrupted.

Dina, don't worry about Nancy:) She's harmless most of the time.

I'll announce the winner here on my blog the end of the month:)

Dina said...

Yes, Debbie, I saw that after I posted, thanks for catching it. :)

I figured you could handle Nancy if need be. ;)

Well, as long as it's through cyber space...I think Nancy is scrappy:)

Debbie and Dina...Absolutely. Keeps life interesting.

Would you want to guess what I say to authors who give me a heroine that's TSTL? *grin* Nancy:)

Debbie Wallace said...

First you have to tell me what TSTL stands for.

Nancy Bristow said...

Debbie...TSTL is short for "too stupid to live" and is a term frequently used by readers (also authors since most are also readers) when reviewing heroine behavior that was written along the lines of a one cell amoeba. Fortunately the majority of authors do not write this kind of heroine as I, along with many other readers, hate a TSTL heroine....Nancy:)

P.S. As a general rule I don't favor abbreviations but I do have another favorite: WTF. It stands for "what the f**k?!" and is generally used after reading a word, a sentence, a paragraph, a page, an explanation that makes absolutely no sense.

Got to love the shorthand of book review language:) There are still a couple that I've run across that I don't know the meaning of yet but will in time:)

Debbie Wallace said...

Gosh, Nancy I so agree! TSTL...I can't stand those type of heroines.

So, what do you say to authors who give you a heroine TSTL?

Dina said...

I've never heard that before.

Nancy Bristow said...

Debbie...What I say about authors who write a TSTL heroine isn't pretty. Normally I would say these things to myself, share my candid opinion with a couple of close book buddies of mine and then never buy another one that author's books.

Mostly this has happened with new-to-me authors and fortunately not that often because usually I've read a blurb or excerpt about the book to get a sense of the author's voice. Sometimes I get tripped up by buying a new-to-me author by only reading a cover blurb.

There are other reasons besides TSTL that I won't buy a second book from an author but this one is a no tolerance factor for me.

It's good that there are so many authors around who know how to write a heroine that readers can love instead of making them cringe....Nancy:)
